After reading the play and watching the movie, I realized that I preferred the play version of this story, I preferred the play because I think that it best describes a love story. On the play I could imagine the setting and the characters, and I imagined everything very beautiful, neat, and romantic, but when I saw the movie I immediately thought that that was not the right setting to perform such love story. On the movie the characters are showed as very violent, rough people, for instance, all of the boys carry guns. I have totally hoped for very calm, romantic characters that are elegant and rich. I don´t think that having guns and violence is right to show a love story, and I know that on the classic story (the play) they have swords and also use violence but I think that classic, medieval time violence is better for a love story. I think that the movie does not represent or capture the love story that Shakespeare intended. Love is portrayed equally on both stories but the family feud is portrayed the strongest on the movie. the way that the families meet to discuss the fight between Tybalt and Benvolio, and the way that we can see how much they hate each other. I think the movie portrays this theme best, but the play captures the real essence of the amazing love story.
